FAKE POSTINOR 2 IN CIRCULATION - NAFDAC WARNS

The National Agency For Food, Drug and Control (NAFDAC) has given warning about the circulation of fake Postinor 2 tablets in Nigeria.

Postinor 2 is a brand of emergency contraceptive pill containing 0.75mg levonorgestrel. It is used as an emergency contraceptive agent after unplanned sex. Postinor 2 is originally manufactured by Gedeon Richter PLC in Budapest, Hungary.

Chemical analysis of the counterfeit Postinor 2 shows it contains no pharmaceutical active ingredient whatsoever.

DATE OF MANUFACTURE:        August 2013

These product details are an actual copy of a genuine batch of Postinor 2, but printed on the counterfeit product. Product information on the package and information leaflet is written in English, French and Spanish languages. It also has a non-usable white "scratch area'' on the reverse side of the pack.

The genuine manufacturers of Postinor 2 have confirmed product batch to be an imitation. Nafdac hereby warns the general public to exercise vigilance when purchasing Postinor 2.
